A museum with the art of keeping us hanging

A museum setting up shop inside a shopping centre — that’s not something you see every day! Throughout September, the Musée d’art et d’histoire moves into Confédération Centre to join the rhythm of Geneva Art Week and offer you brand-new artistic experiences. The entire atrium space will be dressed for the occasion with elements of the museum’s architecture, so it really feels like you’re there!

Classic and contemporary works, side by side!

Mixing media, techniques, and artistic movements is something the MAH does often in its exhibitions, and this will be no exception at Confédération Centre. You’ll be able to admire an astonishing recreation of a Canova sculpture made entirely out of Lego, watch the museum’s works come to life before your eyes thanks to artificial intelligence, and be surprised to find painting reproductions in front of several shops while you browse.

Art within reach

At the MAH, visitors are encouraged to become active participants in their relationship with art. To spark children’s creativity, kids aged 8 and up can join LEGO workshops centered on the work of Italian artist Canova, held September 13, 17, and 20, with two sessions each day at 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm. These free, registration-required activities let the youngest visitors explore the art of sculpting volume in a fun, hands-on way. Until October, the museum will also run a pop-up store in the atrium, offering items inspired by its collections, plus art books available for on-site browsing in a dedicated space.
